The relationship between Nordic and Japanese design is a close one. Both schools display an affection for simplicity of expression and honest materials. In giving shape to the Belly pendant, Bønnelycke mdd drew inspiration from the traditional, Japanese teapot. A closer look also reveals clear references to the cast-iron stove or the archetypal jingle bell. With its dominantly artisanal look, Belly combines weightiness of shape with lightness of suspension. From the start, we’ve always tried to do things properly. So it’s heart-warming to get recognition from people who feel the same way
“A customer is the most important visitor on our premises, he is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption in our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider in our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favor by serving him. He is doing us a favor by giving us an opportunity to do so.” – Mahatma Gandhi
